Herbert

Herbert was born out of 135 designs submitted by our pupils. We incorporated a piece of the 13 shortlisted designs into the final snail concept. Each design represented our school and its values in some way. The rainbow expresses the diversity of the population at Carden school. The 11 ‘learning journey animals’ are used within the school classrooms to characterise good behaviour. We also incorporated some Brighton attributes like the seaside.

Our snail is named Herbert after ‘Herbert Carden’, the “maker of Modern Brighton”. This seemed like a fitting tribute to our schools 70th anniversary this year.
