Paisley

During the 1920s, a legal case called the ‘Paisley Snail’ made history when a woman in the Scottish town of Paisley sued a ginger beer manufacturer because she found a dead snail in her bottle of pop. Created by Brighton-based artist, Emma McGowan, our Paisley Snail is decorated with a bubbly pattern as a nod to that original fizzy drink.

McGowan is an illustrator and surface-pattern designer and often uses florals, geometrics, co-ordinates and seasonal influences in her work.
Paisley’s shell explores the limitless variety found in paisley prints. No two intricate motifs are exactly the same – or are they? Can you find any matching pairs?
