Sidney

Sidney the Snail embraces seaside life. Created by British floral artist Karen Hollis, he is adorned with marine-tolerant, carefree beach roses (rosa rugosa) which grow wild on Sussex beaches. Hollis uses strong shapes and rich hues in her work to create deep curves and swirls that capture the essence of her subjects.

Bright white seagulls soar aimlessly over pebble beaches unless, spotting their target lunch, they swoop into land! Sidney’s seaside vibe is accentuated by a sporting display of ‘laid back’ deck chair stripes – a nod to another team of ‘Seagulls’ that do Brighton proud on the pitch.
